Clovelly Park (Postcode 5042) is an inner southern suburb of Adelaide in the local government area of the City of Marion. Before becoming an 'advanced' suburb, it was a massive farm and vineyard. It is the location of the Mitsubishi plant, although this is often call Tonsley Park, due to the former name of that part of the suburb. It was also the location of the former Marion High School, which closed in 1996. This was mostly demolished and converted into a modern housing estate. For a time, Clovelly Park was also referred to as Crysler Park due to misprints on street directories labelling the train station as 'Chrysler Park' railway stn. This was also because of the Crysler Pub and Crysler car sales. Tonsley Park was the name given to the original farming property that existed prior to the suburbanisation of the 1940's and 1950's. The suburb is home to Cosgrove Hall (part of the old Marion High School) and the newly built ABC Daycare Centre, the only one in the region for at least 10 kilometres. Clovelly Park has no real railway station as it is in Mitchell Park. Since the building of the new estate, residents have been prompted to modernise their own homes. 2007 will almost certainley see a new look Clovelly Park with the demolition of an old house on the corner of York and Janet street which will become an extention of a caravan sale. Also the housing modernisation will also become more spotted wih more houses behind the Mitsubishi Plant becoming more frequent. The population of Clovelly Park is roughly 6000 people.
